Call for Competition Proposals

The IFAC World Congress 2026 invites proposals for competitions. The competition sessions will provide a unique venue for state-of-the-art technical demonstrations from research labs, academia, and industry. Conference attendees and media representatives will have the opportunity to experience simulations or live demonstrations of automatic control techniques applied to robotics and autonomous systems via these competitions.

Proposals must include the following information:
  • Title of the competition
  • A brief description of the competition, including what particular tasks are under evaluation and why the competition is of interest to the IFAC community
  • A draft of the rules and scoring system
  • Time schedule for competition day(s)
  • A list of possible/potential participants
  • Awards planning including any financial plans
  • Request for the organizing committee for facilities including
    - Required space (area in square meters and the minimum height)
    - Energy usage
    - Telecommunications network
    - Human resources needed, and
    - Any specific infrastructure you may need to do the competition (e.g., safety net)
  • Expected cost to hold the competition and planning of funds/financial sponsors
  • Competition organizers’ names, contact information, and brief CVs of the competition organizers describing previous experiences in organizing competitions, workshops, etc.

Note that IFAC WC 2026 organizing committee will ask the organizers of the accepted proposals to submit a list of confirmed participants before the conference takes place.

How to Submit and Contact Information

All submissions will undergo a standard review process within the competition committee. Acceptance decisions will be based upon the potential significance, sustainability in IFAC, and logistical requirements. All the submissions should be made via email to Competition Chair, Prof. Hyondong Oh h.oh@unist.ac.kr with the subject: “Competition Proposal from (your name and surname).”

On-Site Competition Details

  • Competition period: August 23rd – 28th, 2026 (Set-up begins on 23rd August)
  • Location: TBD in BEXCO, Busan

The space for the competitions is limited. IFAC World Congress 2026 may consult the available area for each competition at the acceptance decision stage.
