Call for Demonstration Papers

The goal of demonstration sessions is to promote and showcase research/education-oriented devices, innovative prototypes, and attractive transfer of technologies towards high-tech enterprises. The demonstrator sessions will take place as regular technical sessions and additional chances of demonstrations will be given to authors.

Potential Topics for Demonstrators (but not limited to)

  • Control demonstrators: Any experimental device that demonstrates recent achievements in control theory and applications.
  • Robotics: Prototypes developed in laboratories related to microbotics, bio-inspired robots, autonomous robots, modular robots, healthcare, and collaborative robots.
  • Vehicles: Autonomous cars and platoons, unmanned aerial vehicles, drones, solar vehicles, and autonomous robotic boats.
  • Educational devices: Any devices developed to improve the learning process in academia or for professional degrees.
  • Popularization devices: Videos and dedicated devices to promote control and automation research and to help researchers explain their work to non-specialists.
  • Immersive multimedia: Different aspects of virtual reality and mediated reality can be investigated, including sensory experiences and simulated environments. Multidisciplinary skills are often required for prototype development in many application areas, including art, archeology, gaming, therapy, and so on.
  • Demonstrations from industry: Multidisciplinary projects in which automatic control is at the crossroad of several scientific disciplines and offers original solutions for complex problems are welcome. Innovative prototypes recently implemented in industrial environments will be welcome.
  • Software: Demonstrators can include software tools for simulation, modeling, control design, and so on.

Submission of Demonstration Papers

The submissions should be made through https://ifac.papercept.net . Papers presenting a demonstration will have the same status as other IFAC papers. They can be submitted under the following two categories:
  • Contributed demonstrator paper
  • Contributed demonstrator discussion paper

After selecting one of these paper categories, the second page of the submission system will request the authors to provide their names and the title, keywords and abstract of the paper.

Important: At the final step of submission, after uploading the manuscript, contributors of demonstrator papers are requested to upload a short PDF file describing their needs in terms of logistics and infrastructure (required space, required type of electricity power, etc.).

Invited Sessions and Open Invited Track Sessions

With demonstrator contributions, invited sessions and open invited tracks can be formed as well. Contributors are most welcome to submit open invited track proposals for demonstrators. Submit your track proposals as early as possible to have enough time to attract contributions. Please include the term "demonstrator" in the track title to highlight this aspect.

Demonstration Sessions

Papers that fall in the demonstrator category will be presented during the regular session days. The presenters will be encouraged to emphasize their contributions by means of videos, simulations, demonstrations of software tools, or in a classical slideshow format. If necessary or upon request, the authors (presenters) will be given additional opportunities for hardware/software demonstrations. Companies are also invited to participate to the demonstrator sessions. Further details will be available soon.

How to Submit and Contact Information

All submissions will be reviewed by the IPC chairs. Acceptance decisions will be based upon the potential significance, and sustainability in IFAC. If you have any questions on demonstration papers, please contact IPC Co-Chairs, Hyo-Sung Ahn & Hyoun Jin Kim ipc@ifac2026.org.
