Benchmark Problems
Call for Benchmark Problems
Are you working on an exciting control problem that could benefit the broader research community? We invite
you to propose benchmark problems for consideration as part of an initiative to advance control theory and
its applications. Benchmark problems play a crucial role in fostering innovation and collaboration within
the field by providing standardized challenges to evaluate methodologies and compare performance. This call
seeks benchmark problem such as:
- Relevant: Addressing contemporary challenges in control systems, such as robotics, motion control, vehicle systems, process control, or other related domains.
- Well-Defined: Clearly specifying the problem setup, objectives, constraints, and metrics for evaluation.
- Practical and Impactful: Bridging theoretical advancements with real-world applications, enabling experimental validation where feasible.
Proposals must include the following information:
- Problem Description: Provide a concise yet detailed description of your benchmark problem.
- Scope and Relevance: Highlight its importance and application potential within the control community.
- Evaluation Criteria: Specify measurable metrics and any existing datasets, tools, or simulators.
Why Participate?
- Shape the future direction of research in control systems.
- Collaborate with leading experts in the field.
- Gain visibility for your research challenges.
How to Submit and Contact Information
All submissions will undergo a standard review process within the benchmark problem committee. Acceptance
decisions will be based upon the potential significance, sustainability in IFAC, and logistical
requirements. All the submissions should be made via email to Special Session Chair, Prof. Sehoon Oh sehoon@dgist.ac.kr with the subject: “Benchmark Problem Proposal from
(your name and surname).”
Benchmark Session Details
This session will be hosted during IFAC World Congress 2026. Selected contributors will have the opportunity to present
their proposed benchmark problems in a dedicated session, fostering discussions on potential solutions and
collaborations.
