Call for Workshop Proposals

We are soliciting proposals for workshops to be held at the IFAC World Congress 2026. The workshops will take place on Sunday, August 23, 2026.
The IFAC World Congress will offer full-day or half-day workshops. Organizers are invited to prepare and submit proposals with a clear focus on new and emerging topics within the general scope of automatic control including systems and control theory, optimization, machine learning, robotics, and other control applications. The purpose of the workshops is to provide a comprehensive forum on topics that will not be fully explored during the main conference and to encourage in-depth discussions on fundamental, technical, application, and community issues. It is desirable that the workshops are interactive, creating an engaging atmosphere. The organizers are expected to make the workshops diverse and inclusive for people with different backgrounds and expertise. The presentations will be delivered by experts in academia, laboratories, and industry.
The workshop proposals should be concise with the limit of 6 pages in PDF format. There is no specific template but the proposal is expected to include the following items:
  • Title of the workshop
  • Duration: half-day, full-day
  • Organizers: Please provide the name, affiliation, address, email address for each organizer, and indicate which organizer is the main contact.
  • Outline of the workshop: topics, objectives and description
  • Description of the intended audience and the expected outcomes
  • Desired prerequisite knowledge of the audience
  • Tentative schedule of the event
  • Brief biographies of the confirmed speakers

Additional points:
  • Workshop proposals should include a statement addressing why the workshop is important and timely, how it is relevant to the IFAC World Congress and, why the speakers are qualified for a high-quality introduction of the topic.
  • Workshop proposals may include another statement explaining the diversity of the session along dimensions such as gender, geography, industry/academia affiliation, and/or other forms of diversity.
  • If a related workshop was given before, describe when and where it was given and how it will be updated for the IFAC World Congress 2026. If possible, provide a link to slides of the previous presentation.
  • It is advisable for the organizers to create webpages of their own that help to advertise the workshop once the proposal is accepted.
  • If there are too small number of participants, the workshop will be canceled.
  • To attend the workshops, it is required to register for workshops. There may be a profit-sharing to the organizers.
Please indicate additional equipment if needed. A computer projector, screen, and audio equipment (microphone and speaker) will be provided.

Submission of workshop proposals should be made using IFAC PaperPlaza CMMS.
